The Baker County Jail

The Baker County Jail, also called the Baker County Detention Center, is located in Macclenny, Florida which is about thirty (30) minutes West of Jacksonville. Baker holds persons detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as well as persons detained by the U.S. Federal Marshalls, and persons detained by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office. The facility houses both men and women, although the overall population is majority male.

Removal proceedings at Baker are conducted via televideo to the Orlando Immigration Court. While the detainee must appear for their removal hearing by video from the detention center, family members and witnesses can appear in-person at the Orlando Immigration Court. Baker holds people who are still fighting their removal case before an Immigration Judge, and persons who have appealed their cases or who the government is trying to remove.
